About

This is a mixed blog, reflecting various interests that I want to share. These include gardening, particularly with productive plants in a beautiful setting.  And backyard chickens. And cooking, with a leaning towards the scientific principles and practical techniques involved in kitchen transformations. Issues concerning food production, such as sustainability, health, community and ethics do matter. Sometimes the blog strays wider.
Silverbeet is a very easily grown plant whose leaves are highly nutritious. Silverbeet was one of the first vegetables I grew in my current garden. In some parts of the world it is known as swiss chard.
